DESCRIPTION: New three-storey 1,225 m2 Ophthalmology Outpatients Department at the South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital, Cork for the Health Service Executive. We provided our full Quantity Surveying Services for a new three-storey 1,225 m2 Ophthalmology Outpatients Department at the South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital, Cork for the Health Service Executive. The new Outpatients department is a standalone building located adjacent to the main hospital building and alongside the Breast Check Building and City General Hospital at Infirmary Road, Ballintemple, Cork.
The existing hospital will remain in operation during the works. The development consists of the following: Demolition of existing boundary walls and fencing bounding the site, demolition of the accessible ramp to Breast Check, construction of new 1-3 storey building with stepped access from Infirmary Road, construction of a new realigned access ramp serving both the new OPD and Breast Check, realignment of the existing footpath and cycleway to provide set down for taxis and public vehicles and all associated site works. The main function of the proposed outpatients service will include specialist consultation, examination and treatment in respect of eye disorders and diseases that do not require day case or inpatient activity and also to cater for patients with eye injuries and other acute problems.
