Lawlor Burns & Associates Handover Five Additional Units to Respond and Kerry County Council

Lawlor Burns & Associates are very proud to announce that our Construction Management team handed over five additional units in Dun Ard Ballybunion to Respond and Kerry County Council last week. This now brings the total number to 21 Units, and is a credit to all the team to have delivered these units in such difficult times due to Covid 19 restrictions.

On behalf of Opalage Limited, the Lawlor Burns & Associates Construction Management team carried out extensive refurbishment of the abandoned units and in conjunction with KCC and Irish Water implemented a full site resolution plan to deal with the infrastructural deficit’s and provided turnkey houses for Respond clients to occupy.

This complex project was delivered in a live occupied housing estate, in a phased basis over a 12 month period. The delivery team was led by Steven Lawlor and Tommy Costello with Gary Quigley QDM Architects and David O’Malley of Hutch O’Malley Engineers lead design.

Lawlor Burns & Associates would like to thank Parag Joglekar, Liam Fewer and Richard Vaughan of Respond, as well as Ciara Keenan and Donal Murphy from KCC Housing / Estates Department for all the assistance and guidance given throughout the process.

Primary Care Centre- Newcastle West

Lawlor Burns & Associates Appointed Quantity Surveyors for Newcastle West Primary Care Centre

Lawlor Burns & Associates were recently appointed as quantity surveyors for the new development project for the Primary Care Centre in Newcastle West. The Care Centre will be a 40,000ft² healthcare campus for the people of West Limerick. It was granted permission in November 2019 and is due to go to site this May.

The Primary Care Centre building will be on the site of the former Pallas Foods chicken processing factory. It will have a GP clinic and will include HSE primary care services and diagnostic facilities including radiology and ultrasound. This new multi-million euro development will accommodate Tusla while also providing services such as occupational therapy, dentistry, physiotherapy and ophthalmology services.

A café and pharmacy will also be part of the new development, with 120 car parking spaces and covered bicycle parking allowing for comfortable access for patients and service users.

Quantity Surveying Services - Tusla - St Joseph’s Hospital

Lawlor Burns & Associates Providing Quantity Surveying Services for Tusla Headquarters at St Joseph’s Hospital

Lawlor Burns & Associates are delighted to announce that we will be providing Quantity Surveying Services for Tusla for their new regional headquarters at St Joseph’s Hospital, Mulgrave Street, Limerick. Nautic Construction have  been appointed as the main contractor.

The work involves the construction of a new three-storey extension connected to an existing protected structure, while the three-storey protected structure building will be internally renovated, altered and refurbished to provide consultation and meeting rooms, offices, stores and a plant room.  The site works will include provision of car parking spaces, site fittings, drainage, electrical and mechanical services and landscaping.

Industry Certification for our Project Development Work with Shannon Commercial Properties and Jaguar Land Rover

Lawlor Burns & Associates were delighted to receive some good news about our recently completed new build commercial office development with Shannon Commercial Properties and Jaguar Land Rover which cost €15 million to complete.

Jaguar Land Rover have located their new software engineering centre at two, brand new state-of-the-art buildings at the Shannon Free Zone. The buildings have been newly developed by Shannon Commercial Properties, a Shannon Group company, as part of a first phase development of its wider investment programme launched at the Free Zone in 2015. The programme is aimed at developing cutting edge office/commercial space capable of enable IDA and Enterprise Ireland to attract new FDI and indigenous companies and bring additional employment into the region.

Jaguar now occupy Block C (an office block) and Block E (separate testing facility). The development has received LEED v4 Commercial Interior (CI) Gold certification in respect of the fit-out works. Meanwhile, the base buildings achieved LEED v3 Core and Shell (CS) certification. The fitout took advantage of the base buildings Solar PV and Rainwater Harvesting.

Social Housing Leasing Projects - Round Gardens Citywest

Lawlor Burns & Associates Appointed by RediResi Icorp for Long Term Social Housing Leasing Projects

Lawlor Burns & Associates are pleased to announce our appointment by RediResi Icorp to provide full Project Management, Quantity Surveying and Construction Management services for their long term social housing leasing projects in the Republic of Ireland.

RediResi have secured funding of €91,000,000.00 from their funding partners NatWest Markets PLC and the global investment boutique Alvarium Investments to procure and refurbish up to circa 500 turnkey units nationwide for long term leasing by the country’s Local Authorities.

This is the first of three phases and RediResi have targeted providing in excess of 2,000 additional social housing units through long term leasing over the next 2 years. The Long Term Social Housing Leasing Scheme is a pillar part of the government’s plan to supply 50,000 social housing homes before the end of 2021.

The refurbishment of the first 51 units is commencing on site in February for South Dublin and Fingal County Councils.

Our track record over the last 2 years of rehabilitating over 200 units of existing housing stock, for long term leasing by the local authorities has really counted in winning this appointment and we look forward to handing over the completed units to the local authorities for much needed social housing.”

Wasdell Group European Union Hub Project Shortlisted for Excellence at the ICE Awards 2020

Lawlor Burns & Associates are thrilled with the news that the Wasdell Group European Union Hub project has been shortlisted for excellence at the ICE Awards 2020. Lawlor Burns & Associates provided our full Quantity Surveying Services on the new €30 million facility, which was completed ahead of programme, within budget and to a very high quality standard.

The Wasdell Group project is nominated under the category of Industrial Over €10 Million. Other nominees in the group consist of Dunboyne Biologics, Lidl Regional Distribution Centre, Combilift and BioCork2. The category winners will be announced at the Gala Awards Event in The Convention Centre Dublin, on Saturday 28 March, 2020.

Lawlor Burns & Associates Providing Quantity Surveying Service for New Build at South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital, Cork

Lawlor Burns & Associates are delighted to announce that we will be providing our Quantity Surveying service for the new-build Ophthalmology Outpatients Department at South Infirmary Victoria University Hospital, Cork. We will be working together with the Health Service Executive, Design Team and Clancy Construction who have recently been appointed as main contractor .

This essential and exciting €6 million project consists of the construction of a new three-storey Ophthalmology Outpatients Department at the hospital for the Health Service Executive. The new outpatients department will be a standalone building located in the existing car park adjacent to the main hospital building and alongside the Breast Check Building and City General Hospital at Infirmary Road, Ballintemple, Cork.

Gary Presenting Punches Cross Civil Engineering Award

Gary Lawlor Presents Award to Civil Engineering Student at University of Limerick Presentation Day

In 2019, third year civil engineering students from the University of Limerick completed a thorough topograpical survey of the Punches Cross Student Village site as part of their Integrated Design Project. The next step for the students after the topograpical survey was to draw up their survey on AutoCAD before completing their final designs. Eamon McAuliffe lent his support to help the students with their preparations. Lawlor Burns & Associates supported this learning opportunity by providing access to the site and offered a €300 prize for the best site survey drawing.

Just before the Christmas holidays, all the civil engineering third year students presented their Integrated Design Projects. Peter Power of Arup awarded a generous prize to Quintet Consulting Engineers as they were unanimously adjudged to have given the best presentation. Our Managing Director, Gary Lawlor presented the top prize to Laura Willis who produced the best site survey drawing. PUNCH Consulting Engineers provided three judges for the awards.

Gary was very impressed with the high standard of all the student presentations on the project. Lawlor Burns & Associates would like to wish all the third year engineering students all the best with the remainder of their studies.

Planning permission for Punches Cross Student Village is expected to be relodged in quarter one of this year.

 

An Sean Mhuileann Tralee - Construction Management Team

Lawlor Burns Construction Management team hands over Phase 4 to Tuath Housing for Long Term Leasing

Last month, our Lawlor Burns & Associates construction management team handed over phase 4 of the An Sean Mhuileann long term leasing project to Tuath Housing and Kerry County Council. This now brings the total number to 40 units.

On behalf of RRPF Tralee Limited, the Lawlor Burns & Associates construction management team carried out extensive refurbishment to the units and common areas and provided a turnkey apartments for Tuath clients to occupy.

This complex project was delivered in a live occupied apartment block, in a phased basis over a 12 month period, The delivery team was led by Steven Lawlor and Tommy Costello with David O’Malley of Hutch O’Malley engineers lead design and Stephen Kearney, engineer for the management company.

Quantity Surveyor Services - Pharmaceuticals

Lawlor Burns & Associates Successfully Complete Project Work on Wasdell Pharmaceutical Plant

Lawlor Burns & Associates recently provided our Cost Management and Quantity Surveyor services on the fast tracked IDA supported Wasdell Group pharmaceuticals packaging plant in Dundalk. The Lawlor Burns & Associates team was led by Brian O’ Sullivan who worked diligently to bring our quantity surveyor services and the project to the clients budget. The project team was led by Neil Fanning of OCA Architects. We would like to congratulate Neil on a fantastic project which was completed within a very tight program.

The Wasdell Group pharmaceuticals packaging plant has been been built in the IDA Dundalk Science and Technology Park in Mullagharlin, Dundalk and the facility is Wasdell’s first plant outside of the UK.

The new packaging facility will enable Wasdell to serve customers in the European pharmaceutical industry. It will carry out drug testing, production of primary and secondary packaging, and distribution in Europe and international markets. The project is backed by the Irish Government and is expected to generate 300 jobs.

The location has various transport connections for product shipment, being within one hour’s journey from Dublin and Belfast via the motorway. In addition, it is around a 70 minute journey from the site to Belfast City and Belfast International airports.

The site is also close to four deep water ports located within a one-hour drive. It is also well-connected by rail links to Dublin and Belfast. The Irish plant is currently occupying 2.88 hectares. Wasdell holds land options to expand the site by another 2.68 hectares.

The site houses a 70,000ft² packaging plant, including 12 production suites. It also includes quality control (QC) import testing facilities, state-of-the-art packaging technologies, and storage and distribution facilities.
