DESCRIPTION: Lawlor Burns & Associates provided full Quantity Surveying Services for the Cahercalla Community Hospital and Hospice for the new €5m refurbishment and alterations to the existing community hospital in Ennis, Co. Clare.
The project required the complete phased up-grade of the three-storey block adjacent to the live hospital environment, primarily consisting of bedroom accommodation, to meet HIQUA standards and current building and fire requirements. Works included re-roofing, replacement of sash windows and internal modifications to suit new layout. Re-roofing involved new natural slate roof finish, while the bedroom block copper roof required up-grading for ventilation and insulating purposes. Extensive demolition and alterations works were required to re-model the layout. External works included the provision of a new entrance paved area with polished granite paving, stainless steel framed glazed balustrade with steps and ramps for disabled access. Works were completed in 2014.
