DESCRIPTION: This healthcare comprised the striping out of an existing Coronary Care Unit and re-planning it to provide two new Cardiac Catheter laboratory suites. The works were carried out directly adjacent to two existing Cardiac Catheter Labs, which remained live during the works. Full M&E Services were required and measured to run from the existing Labs through to the new Labs with works carefully planned to minimise down-time. The works were configured to allow a future third Cardiac Catheter Laboratory to be provided at a later date. During Phase 1 all existing clinical areas in the vicinity of the works continued to function. This included the Cardiac Day Ward, relocated Coronary Care Unit and associated accommodation on the first floor and the Recompression Unit and Medical Assessment Unit on the floor beneath the works. Sensitive equipment, e.g. CT Scanning, etc. required necessary measures to avoid affection from vibrations or the like. It was further necessary to arrange access to the ground floor under the proposed Cardiac Catheter labs to carry out certain drainage connections and in routing certain mechanical and electrical services. This work were subject to method statements had to be arranged at a time to suit the service.
